Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is a big thing in the US and it is becoming bigger by the year in Europe. But let’s be honest… most of it isn’t about love and sharing one’s heart, is it? It’s more about commerce, business and sales opportunities. Especially for retailers.

BUT… this blog is not at all about that!

This blog is about a new Single Song Recording, with a song I sang out of love for someone so very dear to my heart…

Old love song with new words

I’ve been singing this particular song with the original Dutch lyrics for decades now, and quite frankly I’ve confused some people with it. But that’s the whole ‘thing’ about this song! What’s new on today’s recording, is that I’ve written English lyrics to this song.

Actually, I’ve written a translation of the Dutch original. Of course not a literal translation, I’ve written it in a way that it perfectly fits the song, with rhyme and rhythm.

New equipment

Something that really made my heart skip over a beat, was when I listened to today’s recording. Last week we received two new microphones, a Rode NT1 and a Shure SM57 (hence no recording last week, we had to make a new setup for the sound recordings).

The results with these microphones are music to my ears! If you’re familiar with my previous recordings, you will probably hear the difference yourself. The guitar sounds brighter, warmer and fuller… I just love it!
